As we move along the Zagros mountains from the north-east to
south-west, we find the mountains lower and the climate less humid
and warmer. Such differences have created two climatic conditions
for the region:
A. Hot area: This area is located in the southern and western
parts of the province. Warm winds sweep through the area. The
climate is warm and semi-arid. Compared to the cold area, the hot
area has rather little precipitation. Average annual fainfall
stands at 350 to 500 millimeters.
B. Cold area: Covering the northern and eastern parts of the
province, the climate is cold and characterized by abundant snow.
It is 2100 meters above the see leve. The temperature reaches -10
degrees centigrade in the winter. Average annual rainfall stands
at 600 to 800 millimeters.
