As Ilam Province has several high and low areas, it has got a
diverse weather. The high points of Kabir Kuh are cold with the
temperature falling below zero. In the western and south-western
plains--which cover the dry deserts of Mehran, Dehloran and Dasht
Abbasi and their height is 300 meters above the sea level--the
weather is quite warm. The south-western scorching winds sweep
through the area in the summer.
In the central areas which comprise Dinar Kuh mountains, the
climate is diverse and the temperature falls below zero in
winters. In northern and north-eastern areas, the average annual
rainfall tops 500 millimeters compared to the 250 millimeters in
the western and south-western areas.
