BABOLSAR

This is the easternmost bathing resort of the Caspian, however farther from Tehran (225 km) than Chalus and without a regular airline service like Ramsar. There are no mountains or forests in the immediate vicinity and the surrounding countryside has none of the picturesque and unexpected features that become more frequent as one moves westwards.
On the other hand, Babolsar and its neighboring villages have considerable accommodation facilities ranging from a high-class hotel in the middle of a beautiful garden to well-kept and cheap small boarding-houses and bungalow villages administered by companies or clubs from the capital.
Furthermore, this bathing resort can be considered as a starting-point for excursions in the Gorgan region on the threshold of the eastern steppes.
